Ice Removal Wiper Visor Protector

As much as we all hate to admit it, winter is here. And in many places across the country, that comes with snow and ice. Whether it’s on your sidewalk, stairs, or your car, it can be a real headache. Not only is it dangerous as a walking hazard, but it’s downright annoying having to scrape your windshield before going to work in the morning.

But you still gotta do it.

Here are the essential items you’ll need this winter for snow and ice removal, as well as a few that will make it even easier on you.

Gawell Round Windshield Ice Scraper - $9.98

If you’re in an area that experiences winter weather, then you’ve undoubtedly had to deal with snow and ice on your car windows in the morning. Nothing is worse than getting ready for work and then going outside early in the morning and seeing that your windows are caked in ice.

Most of us are used to the standard ice scrapers with the bladed edge that you can knock off the ice with. But a better, more ergonomic design is a conical one that fits perfectly in your hand. These round ice scrapers make it easy to not only scrape the ice, but the smaller side is also spiked so that you can break large buildups of ice if needed.

Snow Joe 2-in-1 Foam Snow Broom -$14.40

When you get done scraping your windows off with the round scrapers above, I implore you to please get the snow off the rest of your car, too! Many people drive around with snow and ice on their cars and it can fly off on the highway and put people behind you at risk.

With a snow broom like this one from Snow Joe, you can quickly and easily brush away all the snow from the rest of your car. It has an ultra-wide 18” foam head that won’t damage your paint underneath while simultaneously pushing all the snow off quickly.

I think many of us would agree that the worst part about the snow and ice is slipping and falling. It hurts, it’s embarrassing, and it makes you not want to leave the house for the fear of stepping on the snow and ice wrong.

One of the best ways to reduce the risk of slipping on snow and ice is to get a set of detachable ice cleats for your shoes. Sure, you might not win any fashion contests with these on, but they’ll dig into the snow and ice and give you unparalleled grip and traction in winter weather conditions.

DuPont Teflon Snow and Ice Repellent — 10-oz - $12.62

Snow and ice is even more annoying than just when it causes you to slip and fall. If it builds up on a surface, it can prevent whatever it’s building up on from working properly. Things like a snow blower, roofs & gutters, and even satellite dishes can stop working if enough snow and ice gets in the way.

One of the easiest ways to stop this from happening is to apply snow and ice repellent to these surfaces. This formula from DuPont is super easy to apply and prevents a buildup of snow and ice on any surface you put it on. So never lose your TV signal or deal with clogged gutters due to ice again.

Safe Paw Child and Pet Friendly Ice Melt - $21.95

If you have pets or kids, then chances are high that they like to go outside in the snow. Kids for sure, and many dogs do as well. I had a Husky myself back in the day, and he absolutely loved going outside in the snow. But I didn’t want him to hurt his paws or ingest any of the salt that I threw down to melt the snow and ice.

That’s where kid and pet-friendly snow melt comes into play. Salt chunks are sharp, jagged, and dangerous for kids and pets, yet it seems to be the norm. Safe Paw ice melt is designed to be safe to use and it’s also non-corrosive, unlike salt which can be really bad for paint, clothes, and your skin.

I’ve mentioned a couple of times how annoyed we all get when our windshields are covered with snow and ice. You can have the best ice scrapers in the world, but you still have to get out there and actually scrape the windows off before you can leave. If only there was a better way.

Fortunately, there’s one option left — a windshield snow cover. With a windshield cover like this one from OxGord, simply attach it to your car’s mirror and cover the windshield with it. In the morning, just pull the cover off and your windshield should be snow and ice-free underneath!
