CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Dozens of firefighters battled a fire that burned near Chandler on the Gila River Indian Reservation on Monday. It started near Queek Creek and Old Price roads. Firefighters said the flames burned about an acre. The flames are burning green brush that’s surrounded by desert. Aerial video showed the crews surrounding the flames but letting them burn through the greenery. No buildings were threatened. The fire sent black smoke into the air that can be seen for miles. It’s unclear what started the fire.
